Summer Intership Program

Specific Objectives

• To sponsor summer internships for teachers and high school students that will provide hands-on experience in research laboratories.
  
  

Research experiences for teachers and students focus on the state-of-the-art technology available to conduct biomedical research at the University Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus. The activity focuses on research technologies instead of specific research projects to allow a more effective use of the limited time that students have available during the summer in Puerto Rico. Seminars and workshops will complement the visits to the research facilities. Senior and young biomedical researchers will present the seminars and will highlight the use of a particular technology on a specific research project. A workshop focusing on bioethics and the research skills that are needed to succeed as an investigator will also be offered to all participants of the Summer Internship Program.
