Biomedical Research Education
Program of Puerto Rico

Community Outreach Program

Specific Objectives

  • To design and develop an interactive traveling exhibit that will allow K-12 students to learn about biomedical research and disseminate research advances on diseases that disproportionately affect the Puerto Rican population such as diabetes, asthma, AIDS, stroke, and high blood pressure.

This activity responds to the need to inform the general public about biomedical research and its importance in minimizing the diseases and conditions that adversely affect the Puerto Rican population. To address this need we will develop a multi-interactive exhibit that will help us disseminate across the island:

  1. the importance of biomedical research,

  2. the diseases that are affecting in a disproportional manner our population, and

  3. the research efforts being conducted in Puerto Rico in the biomedical field.
