Pfizer Educational Alliances Congress
The BREP Program was invited to attend the first "Educational Alliances Congress" sponsored by Pfizer Pharmaceutical at the Embassy Suites in Dorado on August 3, 2004. More than 16 organizations were invited to attend this activity including: Alianza Corporativa Pro-Educación, Science on Wheels, AlACiMa, Sapientis, Fundación Comunitaria Puertorriqueñ a, Congreso de Líderes, Puerto Rico Libre de Drogas, APOS and Universidad Politécnica
Mr. Jaime L. Albors, Manager of the Barceloneta Pfizer Plant, opened the activity with a request for helping our education system. He emphasized the need for a close cooperation between industry, schools and community. He also stated that the task of educating is not only the responsibility of the Department of Education of Puerto Rico but a shared responsibility of all of us.
Mr. Jose Santana, Special Assistant to the Puerto Rico Department of Education Secretary, thanked Pfizer for their assistance in creating an alliance between the industry and the Department of Education. He emphasized the impact that these alliances had in the educational system and how they have allowed educators to achieve many of their goals and objectives.
More than 30 schools from the northern side of the Island participated in the Congress, allowing the teachers to share their experiences with representatives from different educational programs and alliances. We want to thank Pfizer Pharmaceutical and especially, Mr. Jorge González Monclova, Director of Community Relations, for the opportunity to attend this congress. The BREP program looks forward with enthusiasm to continue sharing the responsibility of educating our children and young students. Contact Information:
